History of Jaipur

The city is named after the king who founded it in 1727, Maharaja Jai Singh II; he decided to relocate his state's capital from Amber to present-day Jaipur due to a lack of basic amenities and a steadily growing population. The reason Jaipur is known as "The Pink City" is also intriguing: the entire city was literally dipped in pink paint to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1856, and the pink color is still maintained to this day to maintain its otherworldly magical charm.

Architecture

An extremely well-organized city planned according to Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastra principles, with architecture highlighting the Mughal influence in the Rajput empire. Jaipur's popularity stems from the brilliant architectural plans of centuries-old structures such as the Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.

Amer Fort

The Amer Fort, located on a hill near Jaipur, is one of India's most magnificent palaces. This magnificent structure, also known as the Amber Fort, is part of a larger complex. The massive fort can be explored in approximately 2-3 hours. There are audio guides available that explain the history. Every evening, a sound and light show is also performed here.

The City Palace

The City Palace was the main residence of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. The palace complex includes the Chandra Mahan and Mubarak Mahal, as well as several other buildings. It is situated in Jaipur's north-eastern outskirts. The palace is divided into courtyards, structures, and gardens. There is a museum that displays various unique handcrafted products and other items from the City Palace's royal heritage.
