Mysore, located in the Chamundi Hills, is the third most populous city in Karnataka, and its rich heritage draws millions of tourists all year. The majestic Mysore Palace, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see.

Mysore was one of the three largest Princely States in India’s former British Empire. The Mysore Palace remains one of India’s most spectacular palaces to this day.

Every inch of the palace drips with opulence and intricate details, and every room that you visit stands out in terms of its elaborate architecture, beautiful paintings, rich colors, and stained-glass windows. The Mysore Palace is a mesmerizing example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Every Sunday and during the Dussehra celebrations, the palace is spectacularly illuminated after dusk.
Most visitors come to see the World Heritage-listed palace, but Mysore is also rich in tradition, with a deeply atmospheric bazaar district filled with spice shops and incense stalls.

During British rule, the architectural style of structures in the Mysore kingdom underwent significant changes, resulting in a blending of European conventions with local elements. The Hindu temples in the kingdom were built in the traditional Dravidian style of South India. The Mysore Palace, the city's focal point, was designed by English architect Henry Irwin in 1897.

Mysore cuisine has a strong influence from Udipi cuisine in its dishes. The traditional sweet, Mysore Pak, is one of the most well-known items here. Aside from that, Mysore's platter is jam-packed with authentic, traditional, and regional cuisines. Idli, Dosa, Shavige Bath, Pongal, Chutneys and Pickles, Vangi Baath (rice with Brinjal curry), Bisi bele bath (a spicy preparation of rice), and a variety of sweets such as Payasam, Jalebi, Rave Unde, Ladoo, and others are among them.

The Mysore Palace, the former residence of the royal family of Mysore, is a breathtaking example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. It was built in 1912 for the 24th Ruler of the Wodeyar Dynasty and remains one of the largest palaces in the country to this day. It is one of India's most popular and well-known tourist attractions.
