Born from the legacy of Kamrup Komplex—an iconic 1970s eco-resort revived by Ashish Phookan and his wife Jahnabi in 2008—this boutique jungle retreat is an homage to nature, tradition, and sustainability.

Designed to blend effortlessly with its surroundings, the thatch-and-bamboo cottages stand gracefully on stilts, echoing the architecture of the indigenous Mishing tribe. Every element, from handwoven textiles to tribal artifacts, tells a tale of local craftsmanship and respect for the land

Elevated above the riverbanks, Machan—meaning “forest platform”—is the beating heart of Diphlu River Lodge. This beautifully crafted dining pavilion, decked in local artifacts and tribal flair, opens out to twin verandas: one overlooking golden paddy fields, the other peering deep into the jungle.
As dusk falls, guests gather here to swap stories of wild rhinos and elusive tigers over handcrafted cocktails and hearty, locally-inspired meals. Choose from Indian and continental fare, and don’t leave without trying their creamy, house-made banana ice cream—an indulgent nod to simple pleasures.
