Taj Lake Palace

Another jewel from the Taj chain set in regal Rajastan…the Taj Lake Palace, is a 18th Century Historic Palace built of local Rajnagar marble hauled in from Udaipur, and floats incredibly like a pristine cloud in the centre of Lake Pichola.

The Mewar Royal family utilised Jag Niwas, built between 1743 and 1746 by Maharana Jagat Singh II, the 62nd custodian of the House of Mewar, as a summer hideaway for many years before Maharana Bhagwat Singh, Mewar of Udaipur converted it into this heritage hotel in 1963.

Did you know that after being meticulously restored, this impressive edifice rose to fame when it was selected as a location for the James Bond movie “Octopussy.”

Why do we love Taj Lake Palace ?

Every accommodation offers amazing views of the neighbouring City Palace, Aravalli Hills, Machla Magra Hills, and Jag Mandir thanks to its placement: We love Taj Lake Palace because of the sheer decadence of this royal retreat on a beautiful island getaway in the ‘City of Lakes’.

Taj Lake Palace has thought of everything and then accomplished it as only Taj can. From reaching the jetty, to the boat ride, to the hospitality, entertainment, and the rooms you are guaranteed a truly royal experience.

What can I look forward to?

Floating near the Venice of the East, and continuing a tradition of grand soirees and formal levees, Taj Lake Palace takes you to new levels in hospitality. It’s time to be pampered.
