History of Chanoud<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Chanoud of today was a prominent Jagir of the valiant Mertia Rajputs. The estate, which was previously part of the Godwar region, was given to Thakur Anoop Singhji in the early 1700s. During that time, Udaipur (Mewar) ruled Chanoud and the surrounding villages. The Jagirs of Godwar were given to Jodhpur during the 1453 war between Rao Jodha of Marwar and Rana Chunda or Mewar (Marwar). As a result, Chanoud came under Jodhpur rule, and it was honored as a Jodhpur State First Class Jagir.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

Unlike most villages in Rajasthan today, Chanoud has not succumbed to rampant commercialisation and retains its traditional charm. The walk is led by a retired headmaster from the local school and winds through historical temples, the local school, and the shops of artisans who continue to make each item by hand, following in the footsteps of their forefathers.
