Gaafu Alifu Atoll
Gaafu Alifu Atoll – Southern Channels and Depth
Gaafu Alifu Atoll is defined by scale, depth and low density.
Gaafu Alifu Atoll, administratively designated as Gaafu Alifu Atoll, lies approximately 400 kilometres south of Malé and comprises more than 80 islands, including around 10 resort islands alongside several inhabited communities. Characterised by deep channels, expansive lagoon systems and relatively low development density, Gaafu Alifu Atoll represents one of the Maldives’ largest and most structurally complex southern reef environments.
