In 1978, the Thilanka Hotel in Kandy was merely a five-bedroom guesthouse. In keeping with the old Kandyan hospitality custom, visitors were given home-cooked meals and treated like family. It expanded through time, becoming a modest hotel by 1983 and then gradually developing into the current 92-room building.

Their single goal over their nearly 40 years of service has been to offer the conveniences of a Kandyan home with the opulence and cutting-edge amenities of a reputable hotel.
