Indian Himalayan Tours Through Ladakh, Himachal and Uttarakhand

Indian Himalayan tours, crafted as private journeys through Ladakh, Himachal and Uttarakhand, combining mountain landscapes, monasteries, wildlife, and spiritual experiences.

Where India rises into its most dramatic landscapes

The Indian Himalayan reveals a different rhythm of travel, where high mountain passes, remote monasteries, and alpine valleys create journeys defined by space, silence, and scale. From Ladakh’s stark high-altitude deserts to Himachal’s forested valleys and Uttarakhand’s sacred river landscapes, this region feels both vast and deeply personal.

Across Leh Ladakh, Dharamshala Himachal, and Rishikesh Uttarakhand, landscapes shift dramatically — from Buddhist monasteries and lunar terrain to cedar forests and the spiritual banks of the Ganges. These Indian Himalayan tours are designed for travellers seeking altitude, contrast, and a deeper connection with place.

As a Melbourne-based specialist, we have been designing private Indian Himalayan journeys for Australian travellers for over two decades, each supported by your own driver, expert local guides, and carefully selected mountain stays.

Every journey is shaped through our Private Touring approach, allowing flexibility across changing terrains and altitudes. Whether travelling through Ladakh, Himachal, or Uttarakhand, each itinerary is designed around pace, acclimatisation, and personal interests.

We also work with our own associated lodges in India, where personalisation becomes seamless and experiences feel more connected to place. These stays, together with carefully selected boutique properties from our Accommodation Collection, ensure comfort without losing authenticity.

Within our wider India Travel Styles, the Himalaya stands apart as a region where journeys slow down, deepen, and become truly transformative.

Where culture, wilderness and altitude converge

Prayer flags move in the wind above monasteries in Leh, the heart of Ladakh, while the quiet rhythm of mountain life unfolds across remote villages and valleys. In Himachal, Shimla and Dharamshala offer a gentler cultural contrast, blending colonial heritage and spiritual centres within Himalayan landscapes.

In Uttarakhand, Rishikesh introduces a different dimension — where the Ganges flows through foothill landscapes, yoga traditions take root, and spirituality becomes part of the journey rather than a separate experience.

Beyond culture, this region offers one of India’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences. In Ladakh, snow leopard expeditions take you into one of the world’s most remote ecosystems, adding rare and meaningful encounters to your Himalayan journey.

From classic journeys such as Delhi–Agra–Shimla routes to deeper explorations across Ladakh and Uttarakhand, these landscapes allow for both structured travel and transformative immersion.

What is the best season to travel to the Indian Himalayas?

The Himalayan travel season broadly runs from May to September, when mountain roads open and high-altitude regions become accessible. Within this window, each region is at its best at different times. Ladakh is ideal from June to September with dry, clear conditions, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are particularly rewarding in May–June and again in September, sitting either side of the monsoon months. Rather than a fixed season, journeys are best designed by aligning each region to its optimal conditions, creating a more balanced and comfortable Himalayan experience.
