Laamu Atoll
Laamu Atoll – Deep South Reefs and Lagoons
Laamu Atoll is defined by remote reef systems and southern scale.
Laamu Atoll, administratively designated as Laamu Atoll, lies approximately 250 kilometres south of Malé and comprises more than 80 islands, including a small number of resort islands alongside several inhabited communities. Characterised by wide lagoon basins, outer reef walls and comparatively low development density, Laamu Atoll represents one of the Maldives’ more remote southern reef systems shaped by distance and marine continuity.
